Mar 19 war is here

Well, we’re at war. Everyone has known this was coming, but the fact is that it’s here and it’s not good. To all my friends and family, I hope you are safe and healthy. Nobody knows how this war will affect us or the rest of the world, but one thing is certain: we must pay attention. This is not the place or the time to disengage…for those who choose not to pay attention to the world around them. Everyone has part to play, and we must step up.

Mar 11 phish is back

An interesting article about Phish’s two year hiatus…”why they walked away from it all two years ago, why they came back and where they’re going”.

Mar 5 what’s going on?

Hey everyone. In everyone, I mean the one or two people that read this page. Lots of stuff has been going on here…

I bought an espresso machine that is just amazing. For years I have been looking for a machine that makes great shots, can froth lots of milk, costs very little, and has the ability to be “plumbed in” to a house water line. I’ve spent weeks doing very detailed research on the different features of semi-professsional machine, and I found what I was looking for: the Isomac millenium. Pictures of the machine can be viewed here. People have said I’m crazy, but this is something I love and it’s totally worth it. It’s pretty easy to rationalize a purchase of this machine, given that I spend $15 dollars (+/-) on coffee or espresso based drinks in a given week. I’m totally happy, and my shots keep getting better as I hone some technique.

I signed up to compete in the 2003 Chicago triathlon, held on August 24. For those of you who aren’t familiar with triathlons, there are two types: 1) sprint and 2) international. The sprint distance is normally a .75k swim, 22k bike and 5k run, the international distance 1.5k swim, 40k bike and 10k run. I’m doing the international distance. I’m excited, and definitely a little nervous. The run and bike won’t be too difficult, it’s the swm that’s going to kill me. I started swimming two days ago and I’ve got a long long way to go. But, I also have lots of time to train. update i hurt my foot and had to bail on the triathalon. bummer.

I’ve been spending a small amount of time getting a couple friends going with new websites. I’m also really digging the sites of people whom I have helped in the past, as most of them have taken over with full force and done some amazing things.

I celebrated my 28th birthday on March 4. I don’t feel like I’m getting older, nor do I feel like I’ve changed a whole lot in the last few years. Thank you Dan and Erin for taking me out on my birthday, despite the snow that was pouring down over Chicago.

So to recap, I’m 28, fully overcaffeinated and for the first time in my life, I’m actually considering buying a pair of speedos.
