11/17 update: tickets are gone

Nov 11 Bobby Bare Jr @ Double Door

Erin and I saw Bobby Bare Jr at the Double Door last night. Man, the more shows I see at the Double Door, the more I love that place (but it still has nothing on Schubas). Opening for BBJ was David Vandervelde (sounded good, but only got to see them do two songs) and Centro-matic (these guys were great).

Anyway, check Bobby Bare Jr out if you get a chance. Here’s a couple videos:

If you’re already a fan, there are some pretty funny videos out there on youtube.

Nov 8 Alinea

Finally…I scored a reservation at Alinea. If you don’t know about Alinea, it’s an innovative restaurant that opened about a year ago and has recently been consistently voted as one of the top restaurants in the US by Food & Wine, New York Times, Chicago Magazine, Gourmet Magazine, etc. Man I’m excited.

Has anyone tried this place yet? I’d love to hear your comments.

Nov 7 Check out DeLaCosta!

Erin and I had the pleasure of dining at DeLaCosta last night for our second anniversary. Delacosta is a new Latin restaurant from chef Douglas Rodriguez, a James Beard award winner (read: he’s the man in the kitchen). Everything about the place was wonderful…the food was super tasty, the restaurant’s atmosphere was jumping with energy, and the service was superior. We really enjoyed the Ceviche (especially the Hamache), and the Tapas (they have a killer mushroom dish, forget the name). Plus, they serve Metropolis coffee in a swanky french press.

Definitely give this restaurant a try, you won’t be disappointed.
