Aug 8 Does age have any bearing on entrepreneurial success?

There has been a lot of debate in the blogosphere lately about whether or not age has any bearing on entrepreneurial success - Mark Andreesen is taking it a step further and getting down to the data. This is definitely a thread that you’ll want to watch.

Overall, I think the outcome will be - age doesn’t matter, it’s more about hard work, innovation, and putting in the time to make things happen. This jives with a recent video interview I saw with Randy Komisar, partner at VC company Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers (summary: startup success is about baseball statistics - less batting average and more home runs, and you’re not going to hit the home runs without swinging a lot of bats).

Aug 7 It just keeps getting better

While binging up on my new found hunger for The Frames, I’ve found Andrew Bird. I’ve heard the name before, but never have checked out any of his stuff. Now I have, and it is perfect. Give Armchair Apocrypha and The Mysterious Production of Eggs a whirl.

To top that, Andrew Bird and The Frames are both playing at the Hideout Block Party on September 8th. woot!

Let’s see, what else:

  • We‘re picking up lots of clients.
  • Erin and I pulled the brewing equipment out of the closet and we’re going to start to home brew beer again.
  • Our dog Roscoe is quickly exiting the puppy stage and no longer wreaking so much havoc. Dylan is 9 years old, and we definitely forgot about that stage when we brought home Roscoe a year ago
  • And my wife gets hotter and hotter by the day!

Aug 4 A couple of great movies

Check out Once (currently playing in the theaters) and The Number 23 (waiting for you on DVD). Erin and I saw Once last night at the Davis, and loved it. I watched The Number 23 tonight while Erin was sleeping after we came home from the Cubs vs Mets game today.

I’ll try to write more about Once over the weekend. It was not only a brilliant movie, but also opened us up to the music of The Frames, a fantastic band out of Dublin.
