Jul 6 looking for a good hardtail

I’d like to start hitting the trails close by (Kettle Morain, Palos Hills). It would be fun to some exercise where I’m more connected to the outdoors, and each trail is less than 90 minutes away. I’d like to spend less than $600, with a solid frame that is lightweight, and a component set that gives me a lot of upgrade flexibility.

Any recommendations? Anyone have a friend who is an expert with mountain bikes?

Jul 3 it’s a boy!

erin and i had her 20th week ultrasound yesterday, and yep, it’s a boy! we would have been happy either way, but it’s good to know that much more about little baby j :)
